6/6/10

Hi everyone!

I am still wrestling with some personal issues, so not quite as much to report as usual, but life goes on! I do, however, have some stuff to report.

First off, Lords of Men, the new Ars Magica book from Atlas Games, is now out. If i do say so myself, I think my pieces for the book came out great.

The free RPG Day module for Age of Cthulhu is now out. I hope you were all able to snag your copies from your local participating gaming store. I have started serious work on the next book, Horrors from Yuggoth, this past week. From the title, I don't think it is going to be revealing any secrets that the adventure pits the investigators against some crab-shaped monsters much beloved by Lovecraft fans.

I am also (finally) getting into the right frame of mind to work on Agents of S.W.I.N.G. for Postmortem Studios. Besides that, I am also working on a job for Creighton Brosdhurst's Raging Swan Productions. and getting ready for my next job for Third Eye Games.

Lastly (almost), I am chipping away at City of Clocks: I have a good cover design done, and FASA Corporation art god Jeff Laubenstein is working on the actual cover art. Steff Worthington has turned in his maps for the book, and they look gourgeous.

Lastly, in other news, is keeping busy with work for Goodman Games, Rogue Games, Vigilance Press, and The Le Games… she should have (at least) 7-8 new books out before the end of the year! Busy is good!

Ok, enough blogging for the moment... I have monsters to draw!

5/1/10

Blogging, blogging. And more blogging…

So what is up? Well, I finishd my logo for rogue Games, and another book cover design for Vigilance Press, to be followed very shorly with another book cover design, working from art by the always reliably good Rick Hershey… I love steady work!

The Age of Cthulhu Free RPG Day book is done… you can check out a small version of my cover for it here: http://www.goodmangames.com/FRPGD10preview.html

This coming week, I am finally going to really buckle down ion Agents of SWING for Postmotem Studios. Util I can get that done, you can check out the preview at http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=80653&filters=0_0_0_0&manufacturers_id=384

I am starting work on a small job for Larry Wick at Gamewick, home of the Wickedly Errant Games System, a fun take on "Old Skool" role-playing. If you like games with a sense of humor, check out their stuff at http://www.gamewick.com . Any time I get to draw monsters and get paid for it, I am a happy camper.

Speaking of monsters, a brand new Clip Art Critter should be up soon at www.RPGnow.com and all the other usual sales sites… this one has a distinctly Clive Barker feel to it… if any of you publishers need some horror, check it out at http://www.rpgnow.com/index.php?cPath=701_4199

So what else is fermenting inside my skull? Still working my way through a huge pile of illustrations for Twin Blade Games, but closing in one the finishing line for that job. Also, I should have some pieces in the next Third Eye Games book, Demon Codex: Spectrals. And by no means last but not least, I wil be starting on the art for the next Age of Cthulhu book, Horrors from Yuggoth very soon! http://www.goodmangames.com/7004preview.html Yay! I get to draw Mi-Go (I hope!)

I am sure I am forgetting a job or two, but the real-world job beckons!

Blog you soon!

April 18, 2010

A quick blog for April

Sorry folks, I have been insanely busy with real life and some killer deadlines, so the blog had to go on the back burner temporarily.

First off, what new is out?

Well, both Champions Sixth Edition and Hero System Martial Arts are out I am very proud to have been able to contribute to Champions, since it was the second game I ever played, way back in the mid-80's. Champions Powers, the latest book I did artwork for Hero Games for, should be out any time now. And that is not all.

Strange Aeons II, from Chaosium, for Call of Cthulhu, is finally out.

The long-delayed 100 Conspirators, from Post-Mortem Studios, is also out… check it out at http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=80238&filters=0_0_0_0&manufacturers_id=384

From Goodman Games, I have Age of Cthulhu 3: Shadows of Leningrad coming out either by the time you read this or very soon after. In the meantime, go to http://www.goodmangames.com/7003preview.html to check out some of the artwork and be sure to grab the first ever Age of Cthulhu wallpaper for your desktop at http://www.goodman-games.com/images/AOC3-Wallpaper.JPG

Other stuff! API Worldwide: Europe is also out, from Third Eye Games, and I should start work on my next book for them this coming week. Check it out as http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=78502&filters=0_0_0_0&manufacturers_id=2546

And what is coming out soon?

I have some pieces in the new Ars Magica book form Atlas Games, Lords of Men: nothing magical this time, just pure historical illustration. I am still working on designing some miniatures for D3 Games (a first for me!), and working on concept art for Rusttown Press' City of Clocks.. the art team is assembled, I just need to get my butt in gear with the assignments.

And I just finished my art for Goodman Games contribution for Free RPG Day, a mini-module for Age of Cthulhu (you will have to swing by a participating store and check out my cover for it!) Check for the nearest store at http://www.freerpgday.com/

And what is on the horizon that I can mention? Well, I am doing some logo work for Rogue Games and Vigilance Games. A book cover for Skirmisher Publishing for Adventures in Wonderland, if I can figure out what to draw for Alice that has not been done to the point of cliché. I have other projects coming up (another one involving lots of tentacles!) .. but that is still hush-hush.. lol.

Ok.. that is enough! I have monsters to draw! Have a good day everyone, and I will blog again as soon as my schedule allows!

A quick midweek update

I am proud to announce that my work in Dungeon Alphabets is out, appearing alongside art by such industry illuminaries as Jess Easley, Jim Roslof, Jim Holloway, and the immortal Erol Otus. If you love old-school gaming art and OSR-gaming in general, you NEED to add this book to your library! check it out at: http://www.goodmangames.com/4385preview.html

Out now is API Worldwide: Europe from Third Eye Games, for their comedic horror game Apocalypse Prevention, Incorporated, fresh out today! : http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=78502

Also out soon is the third Age of Cthulhu book: Shadows of Leningrad, with art by yours truly, typesetting by Jess, and some exquisitely ghastly stuff by Mike Ferguson. Look for it in April at your local FLGS!

I am also proud to announce that my work in Dungeon Alphabets from Goodman Games is out, appearing alongside art by such industry illuminaries as Jess Easley, Jim Roslof, Jim Holloway, and the immortal Erol Otus. If you love old-school gaming art and OSR-gaming in general, you NEED to add this book to your library! check it out at: http://www.goodmangames.com/4385preview.html

I have also finished a few other products lately, including MILF's: Set Two for Skirmisher, definitely not the most polite project I have ever worked on, but definitely also fun! Check it out at http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=77981&filters=0_0_0_0_0&manufacturers_id=2132

Other than that, i have art in the new edition of Champions (due out mid-late February), Martial Arts Hero (sometime soon) and Champions Powers (ditto)...

I am also working on jobs for Twin Blade Games, Grey Ghost Games, D3 Games, Rogue Games, and maybe some stuff for Miskatonic River Press

2010 looks to be a busy and fun year for me!

Well, back to work for me.. gotta get some superheroes drawn!

1/06/10

My first blog of the New Year and the new decade... let's see if I can do this more consistently than last year... lol.

Things are hopping here already.. I started off the new year by finishing a job for Skirmisher Publishing: MILF's, as in, Monsters I'd Like To F.. err.. never mind. One of the tackiest, but funniest jobs I have done in a long time, and one that answers the question.. why do we never see female Beholders, or Beholders from the back? If you mind drifts (hopefully involuntarily) to visions of your last visitor from your plumber, you will know why....

And that is just the start..I am also working on a logo for a new game line for Rogue Games, art for new game for a company I will talk about more when the publishing date comes closer, and Agents of Swing for Post-Mortem Studios. Also, just yesterday, I picked up an art job for Hero Games' Champions Powers... not bad, considering we are less than a week into the new year!

I am also working with Blackdirge Publishing to do a new line of PDF's dedicated to rules expansions for fourth edition Dungeons and Dragons, as well as still working on some stuff for Goodman Games and Twin Blade Games...

Finally, I am back moving forward on that full-page illustration for Grand Vizier Games. I started from scratch to break through my artist's block on the job, and that seemed to have helped! With any luck, it will be done by next week now...

On a personal note... this first week has sucked a bit, because I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled.. turns out, I still have (or had) all of them... so the new year started with new opportunities and a financial whammy... also, the one tire went out on the car, so that had to be replaced. When it rains, it pours, it would seem.

On the writing front, unfortunately, I have nothing to report... I am simply too busy with art to work on any of the games I have sitting here begging to be finished.. it is very frustrating, but minor things like survival come first, eh?

Anyhow.. that is enough for me for the moment... no new art to show off yet; everything I have been working on is still in progress or still at the printers'.. but Champions Sixth Edition should be hitting the shelves in mid-February, so maybe I can show off some of my stuff for it then!

Till next time!

12/2/09

Happy December, Everyone!

Hopefully everyone had a good Thanksgiving and, economy be damned, everyone will have a good holiday season, with plenty of friends and family around for your celebration of choice.

Everything here at the McDevitt household is starting to look up, after a rather stressful and financially painful autumn. But on the plus side, Jess' health problems seem to be sorting themselves out after her surgery and its complications (and a bout of the swine flu, just to keep things interesting).

So what all is new, besides one health and finance crisis after another? I am working on that big job for Goodman Games, as I mentioned in a previous blog. I am also working on Champions Sixth Edition (a whole lot of color work there). I am still working on that multi-game job for Twin Blade Games, the first segment of which, Sen So Thief, just today went on sale at RPGnow.com.

I finished designing the cover for Wargames, a cold-war superhero game, which should be up for sale fairly soon.

I helped Jess with her new job doing layouts for Rogue Games, re-drawing a very complex occult symbol for the back of Colonial Gothic: Gazetteer, which should be out early next year. And we designed a cover for the revised edition of Skirmisher Publishing's Noble Wild, which I feel came out very slick.

Lastly, I am going to try to finish the long-delayed cover for Barritaria Games and the full-page illustration for Grand Vizier Games before the end of the year… that should be more than enough to keep me busy!

I will try to blog again in about two weeks, but depending on how busy I am trying to finish some of these jobs, it may be the end of the year before I post again… lol.

Otherwise, I hope all of you have a good Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
